Neighbors Building Better Neighborhoods
The Neighborhood Resources Connection (NRC) is a nonprofit organization that works exclusively for South Bend neighborhoods and neighborhood organizations. The NRC vision is one we share with our South Bend neighbors. Tree-lined streets, gardens and green spaces, a diverse mix of welcoming homes and neighbors we know. A safe community for neighbors to walk and chat, and for kids to ride bikes and play in the nearby park. A prosperous community where we invest our time and talents, share our gifts and show our pride in South Bend’s future by getting involved.
The NRC wants to empower and engage community leaders in every city neighborhood, and create the connections that keep South Bend thriving and strong. We see neighbors, faith-based groups, local businesses and schools communicating and collaborating on programs. Working together to solve problems. Developing grassroots leaders and celebrating with each other in vibrant and healthy neighborhoods.
The NRC programs offer technical assistance, training scholarships, and small grant initiatives designed to engage, educate, empower, and energize neighbors to reinvent their neighborhoods. So whether you want to start a neighborhood association or nurture an existing one by throwing a Block Party, the NRC is your go-to resource for building community.
The NRC can also help you file for 501(c)3 status or strengthen your organization, and offers a limited Technical Assistance grant program for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) eligible programs
In addition to the Block Party grant program, we can help you to develop longer-term projects to encourage neighborhood engagement and collaboration, and join with neighbors at the NRC-sponsored Roundtables or leadership workshops. You can check the list of other NRC initiatives here.
Funding for the INSPIRE grant program has been placed on a temporary freeze, so please support NRC so we can continue these important initiatives!
Neighborhood representatives along with City, Council, and Institutional volunteers serve as the Board of Directors. The most recent Neighborhood Resources Connection annual report is available by clicking here.
